Learn to dance Bomba and have fun!!!! Bomba dance and music arrived to Puerto Rico and the Caribbean in the 16th Century, from West Africa. In the present time, is becoming very popular because of its challenging communication between dancers and drummers, especially among children, youth and adults from New York, Philadelphia, Florida, Chicago and Boston. Some of the sister dance-and-music forms from the Caribbean are the Punta from Honduras, Tumba from Haiti and Gwoka from Guadalupe, among others. Students will learn to dance Bomba Sicá, Bomba Cuembé, Bomba Holandé and Bomba Yubá, among others, while learning the music and the history in a fun way. Skirts will be provided for women, but you are welcome to bring your own. Live Bomba drum music!! Enjoyable friends and family activity!
