Dana-Farber Rink Rats to play Boston Bruins alumni in hockey fundraiser
Doctors, nurses, researchers and staff participating in charity event to benefit the Jimmy Fund
Come watch more than a dozen Dana-Farber Cancer Institute doctors, nurses, researchers, and staff play a charity hockey game against the Boston Bruins alumni to benefit the Jimmy Fund, which supports adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber. The game will be held Saturday, February 4 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., at LoConte Rink in Medford. To help support the Jimmy Fund, fans can either sponsor a player or purchase tickets to watch the game.
New this year is a special skills and drills clinic for family of Dana-Farber employees, taking place at the rink at 2 p.m. The clinic has a fundraising minimum of $500 and is available to the first 10 people who want to play. Boston Bruins alumni will be teaching the clinic.
“Dana-Farber Rink Rats is a special way to pair my love for hockey with my passion for supporting the Dana-Farber mission,” said David Read, vice president of Ambulatory Care Operations and Medical Oncology, who is leading this program. “We are thrilled to have Bruins alumni join us to conquer cancer.”
All participants are required to raise a minimum of $1,000 to participate in the game. Tickets for spectators are $20 for adults and $10 children, and are available online and at the door. Limited free parking is available. To support a player or purchase advance tickets, visit www.jimmyfund.org/rinkrats.
