Join sculptor Nick Batzell for an insightful discussion on Cyrus Dallin’s sculptural process. Batzell will discuss the clay modeling techniques and schools of thought that were employed by Cyrus Dallin and his contemporaries. He will also explore the saga of the Paul Revere monument in the context of the technical challenges Dallin faced when he was asked to modify his model six different times over the course of 57 years.
Nick Batzell grew up Arlington, Massachusetts. At a young age, his interest in sculpture was inspired by seeing Dallin’s masterful public works in his home town. Batzell studied sculpture at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York and currently works as an Apprentice Sculptor to Robert Shure at Skylight Studios in Woburn, Massachusetts.
Reservations for this program are recommended. Tickets are $10 ($7 for members) and can be ordered online here, http://dallin.org/?page_id=16.
