Curated Cuisine is a monthly series examining all things edible, from the chefs cooking the food to the writers reviewing the recipes. Meet the people shaping the food industry, both local and national and enjoy a post-show bite inspired by the conversation.
Toni Tipton-Martin, James Beard Award winner and editor-in-chief of Cook’s Country, is back with a follow-up to her award-winning cookbook “Jubilee: Recipes from Two Centuries of African American Cooking.”
Her new book, “Juke Joints, Jazz Clubs, and Juice: Cocktails from Two Centuries of African American Cookbooks,” charts the influence of Black mixology on American cocktail culture. Darryl C. Murphy, host of WBUR’s daily news and culture podcast The Common, will sit down with Tipton-Martin to discuss what her research has unearthed about Black drinking culture, forgotten icons and heretofore unheard of drinks. Join us for jazz, cocktails and conversation!
