North Shore Community Development Coalition (NSCDC) is excited to announce the opening reception for the Punto Urban Art Museum’s (PUAM) newest creative placemaking project “Casa de Abuela” In Salem, MA. This installation centers the lived experiences of Abuelas (grandmothers) and tells the stories via a traditional wooden house commonly found in the countryside of the Dominican Republic (DR). Casa de Abuela will transport visitors to the DR by experiencing life through objects exchanged with Abuelas while learning about the stories or wisdom each item holds.
We invite you to join us for a community celebration of Dominican, Caribbean and Latino culture on August 16th, from 5pm to 8pm in El Patio, located behind 98 Lafayette St, Salem, MA. Dominican cuisine and beverages will be served during the event.
