Victory Point's Cuciniamo! (Let's Cook!) classes are fun, hands-on opportunities to learn the secrets to preparing perfect homemade pasta from scratch and other delicious dishes from an authentic Italian kitchen.
Come with your friends or come alone and make new friends. You'll enjoy a great night out under the tutelage of award-winning Italian chef Pino Maffeo and the Frattaroli Family of North End and Victory Point restaurant fame.
The classes are held each month at Victory Point in Marina Bay (332 Victory Road, Quincy).
The next class is March 19, the first day of spring, featuring the Taste of an Italian Spring Sotto Olio (under oil). The classes take place amid scenic views of the yachts of Marina Bay and the Boston Harbor islands.
Students at this month's class will learn the skills for saving and preserving the year’s earliest crops – not to mention later crops, too – and serve them with handmade pappardelle sotto olio in the classic Italian style.
"Professor" Pino will first teach students how to pickle herbs and vegetables, capturing the flavors of the season for months to come. Students will then learn the secrets to handmade pappardelle, including traditional mixing, rolling and hand-cut pasta techniques.
The cost is $55 per student, with all necessary ingredients and equipment, plus cheese board appetizers, and cash bar.
All students will enjoy the dishes they just created at the end of class, while heading home with recipes and samples of their food. Friends and family will love savoring your very own authentic Italian pappardelle and vegetables sotto olio throughout the year.
Additional classes are scheduled throughout the winter and spring (each class starts at 6 p.m.).
