Coro Allegro, Boston's award-winning LGBTQ+ and allied classical chorus, presents "The White Raven / Inspiring Music for Troubled Times," a transcendent concert celebrating the resilience of the human spirit at Sanders Theatre on May 7 at 3 pm. The performance is part of Coro Allegro's centennial celebration of composer Daniel Pinkham. Under the direction of Artistic Director David Hodgkins, the concert features Pinkham's cantata "The White Raven," a Coro Allegro commission celebrating the diversity of creation, and Haydn's Missa in Angustiis (Mass for Troubled Times), a work showcasing the power of the human voice to transcend adversity. The program also includes Dr. Diane White-Clayton's "Many Mansions," a moving reimagining of the African-American Spiritual "In Bright Mansions Above," reflecting on the losses and struggles of our troubled times. Guest soloists include soprano Dana Varga, mezzo-soprano Clare McNamara, tenor Omar Najmi, and baritone Wayne Arthur. The performance will be followed by a gala celebration marking 30 years of singing with pride with Hodgkins at the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center. Tickets for "The White Raven / Inspiring Music for Troubled Times" start at $25.
