The Cornell University Chorus and Glee Club will perform a joint concert in Boston, at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 14th at the historic Old South Church in Back Bay.
The concert will feature works spanning five centuries of choral music in nine different languages. The program will include a diverse array of styles from renaissance polyphony to late-Romantic Russian choral masterpieces, folk songs to lullabies, and modern anthems to J. S. Bach's intricately crafted motet Der Geist hilft unser Schwachheit auf. Founded in 1868, the Cornell University Glee Club traditionally performs Tenor-Bass repertoire, and founded in 1920, the Cornell University Chorus has long been a champion of contemporary works for treble voices. The two groups will perform both separately and combined, and the program will feature performances from their respective a cappella subsets, The Hangovers and After Eight.
