The season of Advent has long been considered a period of penitence and preparation before the joyous celebrations of Christmas. Our program includes medieval settings of prophecies of biblical patriarchs and lady oracles, looking back to pre-Christian days when people wondered what the coming of the Lord would mean for the world. These soulful texts and music explore emotions ranging from fear to cautious hope to joy, echoing our own complex feelings in these times of increasing uncertainty and darkness.
