The Massachusetts Genealogical Council is one of the oldest genealogy non-profits in Massachusetts. The MGC serves as an umbrella organization of Massachusetts genealogical and historical societies and libraries, whose members range from the Berkshires to Cape Cod; it is dedicated to promoting local genealogy education, preservation, and access for people who have ancestral connections within Massachusetts.
As a part of its educational goals, the MGC is putting on its 2022 virtual seminar, Connections, throughout the month of April. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with expert genealogy speakers in live chats and interactive workshops, meet with other attendees and genealogists in Topic Talks group discussions, and better understand genealogy research by exploring new sources and applying new skills.
The seminar will feature two live speakers, nineteen presenters, twenty streaming on-demand presentations, four workshops, and thirteen live events during April. Topics range from genealogy research among different cultural and ethnic groups, utilizing genealogy repositories in the Massachusetts State Archives and Boston Public Library, as well as understanding technological developments in genealogy research. Participants will have an additional month of on-demand access to the seminar’s presentations during May.
The MGC welcomes anyone to participate in the seminar, and hopes that participants will possess new knowledge and connections after its conclusion. Access to Connections may be purchased at the attached URL.
