Itai and the Ophanim is the project of singer, songwriter, pianist, accordionist, and prayerleader Itai Gal. Their debut album Arise, which has become available in the digital music universe as of this fall, offers a colorful palette of instrumentations, from nigunim with a choir to a seven-piece band inspired by funk and klezmer. Their lyrics are in Hebrew and English, infusing the traditional prayers with the ones in their heart; prayers for justice and unity among humans and Earth. Creating from a place informed by tradition while also facing outwards, Itai speaks to the contemporary seeker, invites you to sing along, and hopes to inspire others to ground in their roots.

This year, Zach released an album of original nigunim and new melodies for traditional Hebrew texts. Entitled Modeh Ani, the album features Mayer's singing and saxophone playing joined by some of today's most accomplished Jewish musicians, including Frank London, Michael Alpert, Deborah Strauss and Richie Barshay. Mayer says, "Modeh Ani is music meant for singing together with others. I want to share these melodies with many different communities, and even if it’s only temporary, create at least a miniature moment of peace.” Zach has also performed with John Zorn, Joey Weisenberg, and Bobby McFerrin. He has been on the faculty at the Brandeis Institute of Music and Art, Laguardia Arts High School in Manhattan, and teaches at Jewish music festivals worldwide.
