Over the last year and a half, Waltham-based cartoonist & memoirist Maria Photinakis documented in comic form how her young family lived with the tumultuous changes brought on by the pandemic.

The second volume of her book collecting these comics, called "Extraordinary Times," just came out in print in August 2021. The artist will discuss her process and takeaways in making such personal work in hard times, and will also provide a short workshop on how to make a comics memoir of your own with materials you have on hand at home.
