Self-rescue is a range of skills that help rescue climbers stranded on the wall. This can include anything from simply hauling a climber past a small crux to having to ascend up to an injured climber. Our self-rescue course was designed to be an in-depth introduction to self-rescue. In this course, you will learn how to ascend to a climber, how to haul a climber up a wall, how escape the belay, how to take over another climber’s belay, and other advanced lowering techniques. We assume students in this course will have at least a basic understanding of of intermediate climbing skills such as: belaying from the top, rappelling, and climbing anchor basics.
