City Splash is a community event that provides the public the rare opportunity to swim in the Charles River and raise awareness to bring river swimming back to Boston! 


Countdown to the annual Charles River swim starts now! City Splash will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024. Event registration will open Thursday, June 6. With spots limited, you won’t want to miss out on securing your place for the once-a-year opportunity to swim in the Charles River.


The CRC is excited to bring swimmers back to the Charles on July 13th for our community swim, one of only two annual opportunities to swim in the river. The CRC works in partnership with Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) to obtain a Special Use Permit for this unique event. Due to important safety considerations, there are limited swimming slots and swimming in the Charles River is only allowed if a permit is obtained from DCR.
