City of Quincy 71st Annual Christmas Parade

The 71st annual edition of the Quincy Christmas Parade “Home for the Holidays” will take place on Sunday December 1st, 2024. The parade will step off an 12:00 PM from the intersection of Hannon Parkway and proceed north on Hancock Street and end at North Quincy High School. The annual high school band competition judging will take place at Central Middle School as will the live QATV broadcast.

Sixteen bands will take part along with sixteen floats and numerous specialty units including the always popular Shriners Clowns and Fire Brigade. Crowd favorites Wally and Tessie from the Boston Red Sox and the long-time participants the Cycling Murray family. Antique cars, a fire dancer and numerous costume characters will also be in the line of march. New participant the Hobby Knoll Stables from Duxbury will bring a six horse hitch of their majestic Clydesdales which were recently featured in a Boston Globe photo essay.

This year the USS Constitution Color Guard will be joined by the Ship’s Captain Commanding Officer Crystal Schaefer who will march with the other members of the ship’s command staff.

There will be numerous Color Guards headed by the Quincy Police, Quincy Fire and Quincy Veterans Organizations.

The parade will host two long time Christmas Charitable organizations the Salvation Army who will have their tradition of collection with red kettles. The USMC Reserve members will collect unwrapped toys along the route in the Toys for Tots program.

Elementary school poster winners and the two theme contest winners Tracey Landers and Michelle Kelley will have ride in the parade as a reward for winning the respective competitions.

Mayor Thomas Koch will lead the elected officials from City, County and State offices.
