Join All She Wrote Books as we celebrate our owner Christina's birthday! In celebration, we are welcoming author of The Revolution Will Be Well Fed: Recipes for Creating Community, and friend of the bookstore, Corrie Locke-Hardy! Corrie and Christina will talk about valuing community over capitalism through acts, both big and small, that prioritize inclusivity for every member of society. We will also be enjoying some delicious treats made by Corrie!
"Inclusivity" isn't just a buzzword to us. We make every effort to ensure our space and events are accessible to and for everyone. If you or someone in your party needs accommodations, please email us at [email protected].
About The Revolution Will Be Well Fed: Recipes for Creating Community
The Revolution Will Be Well Fed features 50 recipes for snacking on while community organizing, as well as essays and history exploring the connections between food, community, and social movements. The cookbook could not be more timely as we approach the 2024 presidential election. With quite possibly the democracy of the United States at stake, there is no better time to become involved in our communities in order to protect all members of society and ensure that everyone has resources, safety, and a place to be themselves.
Chapters include breakfast, snacks, and dessert, as well as essays about important events, organizations, and individuals that have placed community at the core of their work. Read about the Black Panther Party’s free breakfast program while making coffee cake, learn about sit-ins and strikes while snacking on hand pies, or gather for dessert to honor the people who laid the groundwork for sustained social movements. Readers can carry on the message of valuing community over capitalism through acts, both big and small, that prioritize inclusivity for every member of society.
About the Author
Corrie Locke-Hardy (she/they) is the queer owner of The Tiny Activist, a consulting business that focuses on social justice education and literacy. For their “first career,” Corrie spent nine years in the hospitality industry cooking professionally, concentrating on pastry and bread. She worked in a wide range of establishments, which reinforced the message that community is key. Corrie’s “second career” is education, which includes being a former classroom teacher. They now consult internationally on social justice education projects, curriculum, and school culture. Corrie has a master’s degree in gender and cultural studies and focuses professionally on using literature as a tool for resistance and education. The Revolution Will Be Well Fed is a combination of Corrie’s lifelong passions for education, activism, and yummy treats!
