Where has all the wildlife gone? Create birdfeeders to feed overwintering birds, and hunt for other signs of winter wildlife at dusk. As the sun sets and the moon rises, you’ll explore the woodland trails, listening for winter wildlife all around you.
The full moon in February is called the “snow moon” because typically- there’s snow! If the moon lives up to its name, you’ll learn to build a Quinzee- a snow shelter traditional to some Canadian indigenous cultures.
Chestnut Hill by Moonlight invites you to experience a magical full moon evening on the farm. Celebrate community with your fellow evening hikers. Marvel as day turns into night as the sun sets and the moon rises, then go on a guided hike by moonlight. Make wishes as stars pop out one by one, and look for familiar constellations. Campfires may be a part of the event, depending on weather and current drought conditions. Your guide will be ranger Bob, a local scoutmaster and devoted member of the Trustees community.
This family-friendly event welcomes adults and children.
Please note, though we love dogs, they are not permitted at Chestnut Hill Farm.
