Norton Singers is thrilled to announce it will be kicking off its 75th anniversary celebration on Friday, September 6, 2019 @ 7;30 pm with a concert version of the Tim Rice/Benny Andersson/Björn Ulvaeus (the two guys behind ABBA) masterpiece Chess, which features such well known songs as “One Night in Bangkok,” "Pity the Child," “Anthem” and “Heaven Help My Heart.” It's truly a show many theater goers love, but one that is not heard often, so our thought was, why not put together a formal dress, concert version of the London version of the show?
We think this is a great opportunity to hear some of our more seasoned performers (the plan is to have 32, one person for each piece on the chess board) sink their teeth into some challenging material, accompanied by a 25-piece orchestra. Plus, it's a perfect complement to next year's spring production of Mamma Mia. Directed by Chess masters Ted Mitchell and music direction by Anthony-Alexander Torelli...a show these two have wanted to produce for years!
Reserved Seating tickets are $25 for Adults, $23 for Seniors/Veterans/Students. For more information go to www.orpheum.org or contact the MRPAC Box Office at 508-543-ARTS (2787) or [email protected] for membership and group discounts.
