Chameleon offers a “seasonal” program of fantastical visions and striking scenes, inspired by the secret lives of gargoyles, the master of the macabre, and richly imagined inner worlds. The concert is bookended by the master of fantasy, Robert Schumann, including his Fantasiestücke for clarinet and piano and Piano Trio No. 3 in g minor. Andrew List imagines wild, nighttime celebrations by the statuary at Notre Dame. Cynthia Lee Wong’s Piano Quartet is a haunting soundscape inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s “Ligeia” and Andre Caplet borrows Poe’s “The Masque of the Red Death” for a fiercely lavish tone poem for harp and string quartet.
Tickets are $50, $39 or $28 with $5 off for students and seniors.
