Libby Larsen’s high-contrast, film noir-inspired mise-en-scène – Trio Noir for clarinet, cello, and piano – sets the stage for an Up Close recital of cinematic fantasy featuring Chameleons Kelli O’Connor, Rafael Popper-Keizer, and Vivian Chang-Freiheit. Beethoven’s “Gassenhauer” Trio gives us rising action and artful character development; Zemlinsky’s d minor Clarinet Trio heightens the dramatic tension with brooding intensity and shifting moods; and Brahms, with his masterful, darkly hued a minor trio for clarinet, cello, and piano, Op. 114, takes us on a journey of soul and spirit from light to dark and back again.
Tickets are $52 with $5 off for students and seniors.
