Join the Metropolitan Chorale, under the direction of Lisa Graham, and Fellswater, Boston’s dynamic Celtic Music Ensemble during Saint Patrick’s Day weekend on Saturday, March 18th at 7:30pm at the JFK Presidential Library and Museum in Boston. The event, titled Celtic Crossroads, will be a rousing, rollicking celebration of music from Irish and Celtic traditions, paying tribute to Boston's deep Irish roots and history of immigration to the Bay State featuring arrangements of favorites such as Danny Boy, Dulaman, Wild Mountain Thyme, and Bo na Leathadhairce, as well as works by Stephen Hatfield and Arvo Pärt. The program will also feature Fellswater’s own repertoire with instrumentation including vocals, whistles, Irish flute, guitar, octave mandolin, banjo, violin, cello, Celtic harp, piano accordion, Scottish smallpipes, and percussion.
The Metropolitan Chorale is a 100-voice auditioned chorus, and one of Boston’s premier vocal ensembles. Since 2004, the ensemble has been under the direction of Dr. Lisa Graham who also serves as the Evelyn Barry Director of Choral Programs at Wellesley College. The emphasis on diverse and innovative programming, combined with excellence in performance, yields a unique artistic contribution to the Boston arts community.
Fellswater is a dynamic 7 piece Celtic music ensemble based out of Boston playing a wide range of music from traditional to modern compositions, drawing from the music of Scotland, Ireland, Galicia, Canada and beyond. Fellswater has delighted audiences at the New Hampshire Highland Games, Blackstone River Theatre, Boston Celtic Music Fest, The Burren Backroom Series, Club Passim and Colonial Williamsburg. The band was featured at the 2015 Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, playing for 8,000 nightly. Fellswater performed in the world renowned Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo as well as presented two concerts in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2018. 2022 saw debuts in The Sembrich’s World Music concert series and a rousing debut at Dreamland Theatre on Nantucket.
The Metropolitan Chorale is a proud participant in the EBT Card to Culture Program. Tickets are available free of charge to EBT/WIC card holders at the venue on the evening of the event.
