The Spellman Museum of Stamps & Postal History at Regis College in Weston will host its annual celebration for Women’s History Month from 10:00 to 3:00 on Saturday March 14. The 100th anniversary of the nineteenth amendment will also be highlighted.
Children are invited to create their own women-on-stamp designs both from the United States and around the world to display in the Museum . Children can also do stamp hunts for stamp prizes, do games and puzzles, create arts and crafts projects using stamps including making bookmarks, picture frames and drinking mugs. Instructions will be given in how to make unique envelopes to use to send letters to friends. The postage will be free. Kids can also be made into stamps and send themselves a postcard.
That day the Museum will open its display of postage stamps honoring many famous women from America’s past. Families will be asked to nominate a woman who should be honored by the Post Office.
Refreshments will be served and each child will receive a free packet of stamps plus make a free collection of women on stamps to take home. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and $3 for children. Some local libraries have free library passes. Children can also become a free member of the Museum that day.
