Join us for Tikkun Leil Shavuot -- A interactive nighttime study session to prepare ourselves for the moment of revelation with pizza, beer, ice cream, cheese cake + lactose-free options!
SESSION 1: THE RITUAL THAT SURVIVED...EVERYTHING: THE OFFERING OF FIRST FRUITS IN DEUTERONOMY
Celebrate the revelation at Sinai & our receiving the Torah. Shavuot is the concluding festival of the harvest in Israel! We will study the biblical post-harvest declaration ritual recited by farmers when bringing their 'first fruit' offerings.
Get a glimpse into the ways in which our ancestors connected to God, the land of Israel, & how they blended the spiritual with the practical. Perhaps, we might learn from them how to do the same during these complex times.
BREAK FOR DESSERT!
SESSION 2: JERUSALEM OF GOLD --CELEBRATING ISRAEL THROUGH SONG!
We will conclude our Tikkun by learning & singing this iconic Israeli folk song. Followed by more singing, for those who'd like to linger...
