What’s your story?
On March 18, 2023, 2PM-3:30PM at the Abington Library host an interactive oral history workshop, Carving Out Your Story. This fun and friendly workshop will help you uncover interesting stories from your life.
· Do you have any memories of Abington Library before it was on the site it is now?
· Do you have memories of learning to swim at Island Grove?
· Are you a new comer to the area, and you have a memory of growing up in another state
different from Massachusetts?
Stories are important. It is how we make sense of the world. There are generations of children who have no concept of what it was like to grow up in the 30’s,40’s , 50’s,60’s ,70’s and 80’s. If a story isn’t shared that experience will disappear in history, but if it is rediscovered within a story, it will live on for generations to come.
One participant said of this workshop “Thank you for inviting me to today’s workshop. I got more out of it than you could ever know. I realized that was the first time I’ve told this story to another person, and it was emotional. And that is the power of storytelling” - Kent
This workshop is facilitated by two award winning storytellers, Karen Chace of Freetown, MA. and Abington’s own storyteller, Andrea Lovett. They will guide participants through the process of finding those jewels that deserve to be remembered. Please register at the library or call 781 982 2139 as space is limited. This program is free and open to the public.
