Cantata Singers returns to Beethoven’s epic Missa solemnis. Regarded as one of the greatest choral masterpieces of all time, Beethoven’s own inscription in the score, “From the heart—may it return to the heart!” aptly describes the piece's luminous majesty, and intimate power. Showcasing the virtuosic opulence of Missa solemnis are soloists Dana Varga, soprano, in her Cantata Singers' debut; Emily Marvosh, alto; Yegishe Manucharyan, tenor; and Mark Andrew Cleveland, bass.
Lewis Lockwood, Professor of Music, Emeritus at Harvard University, will give a pre-concert talk, free to all ticketholders, at 7pm in Williams Hall. Following the performance, all are invited to attend a free post-concert reception.
