On Saturday, March 1st from 10:00 am until 4:30 pm, the Church of the Advent in Boston will host a colloquium on The Camino de Santiago. The day will consist of a morning session and an afternoon session. The morning session will feature three speakers on The Theology of Pilgrimage:
● Nancy Mead, a seasoned pilgrim who discovered the Camino de Santiago in 2000 and has made many pilgrimages, walking over 7000 miles to date, including 11 pilgrimages on various Camino de Santiago paths in Spain and France. She is the wife of Father Andrew Mead, our 14th Rector.
● Fr. Victor Austin, Theologian-in-Residence for The Episcopal Diocese of Dallas and Cathedral Theologian-in-Residence for St. Matthew’s Church in Dallas. Fr Austin has recently walked the thousand-year-old route from Roncesvalles in Spain to Santiago de Compostela.
● Dr. Rachel Teubner, known to us as a parishioner and currently a Visiting Scholar in Medieval Studies at Harvard University, as well as Head of Children’s Christian Education and Confirmation at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Waban. She is the author of Dante and the Practice of Humility: A Theological Commentary on the Divine Comedy.
The afternoon session will be a roundtable discussion on “Walking The Camino de Santiago.”
Fr. Austin and Nancy Mead will be joined by two of our own parishioners, David Fisher and Elizabeth Amrien, who will share their Camino experiences.
You are invited to attend any portion of the day’s events. Please come and learn about this 1000-year old pilgrimage.
