Calamus
An original play by Patric C.W. Verrone ’18
Directed by Nathaniel Brodsky ’18
Produced by Kyle McFadden ’18
Calamus is an original play inspired by Walt Whitman's poetry. It follows the journeys of Walt, a teenager recently out of the closet, and Ford, a young African-American trans poet, as they travel across America and through the past. The play showcases the many faces of the BGLTQ+ community today and their relationships with queer history in America. The production will kick off the semester as a staged reading in Leverett Library Theater.
