Cafe du Cheap Artiste is a performance open mic/cabaret, presented in a variety of Boston area spaces. Each Cafe has a (loose) theme - pieces can be related to that theme, or not! Please also feel free to dress up in appropriate thematic fashion, or not! This Cafe iteration is GYM CLASS NIGHTMARES and other Puberty Parables!
At the Cafe, ANYONE can do ANYTHING they want!! But, HERE’S THE CATCH: each piece has a strict two minute time limit. If you go over the two minute mark, you will be played off by the Goddamn Brass Band! While the emotional distress of high school gym class may stick with you forever, you’ve only got TWO MINUTES to showcase it on stage at the Cafe.
Are you dying to stage a dream ballet about the FitnessGram Pacer test? Do you want to create a puppet show based on fanfic you wrote in 7th grade? Did you write an operatic power ballad about how your body was changing during puberty and have been looking for the right place to perform it for all these years? Well, you found it! Lace up your sneakers and join us at Middlesex on Saturday March 1 at 5pm!
