This one-day retreat will explore the life of the Buddha through the lens of his foundational teaching of the Four Noble Truths. From his upbringing as a prince with every materialistic pleasure, through his decision to renounce that life and become a spiritual seeker, the Buddha’s path speaks to us today. We live in a culture of materialism and distraction, which always tries to paper over the suffering around us. Yet like the Buddha, our longing for deeper meaning continually punctures that illusion of comfort and can guide us toward a path to liberation.

Through talks, guided contemplation and discussion, we will explore how the example of the Buddha’s path and teachings can inform our own lives 2600 years later.

This program is for everyone, no matter what level of Buddhist practice.

Saturday March 15 10 am - 4 pm (Lunch 12:15- 1:15)

Teachers:

Dylan Khanal has studied the Shambhala and Buddhist teachings for 20 years. As a therapist in independent practice, he explores how meditation can support meaningful responses to the social, emotional, political, and ecological crises of our times.

Mary Lang is an artist/photographer whose work expresses the sadness of her love for this earth. She has been a student of Chögyam Trungpa since 1973, is currently the Chair of the Board and is a senior teacher at the Shambhala center.
