About Botanical Watercolors in the Gardens
Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens welcomes you to try your hand at the art of botanical watercolor painting under the guidance of artist and educator Valerie Mercier. Each week participants will enjoy relaxing in the gardens to paint “En Plein Air” a specimen of the French Potager Garden – herbs, vegetables, flowers, the subject will rotate each week.
Valerie Mercier is a multidisciplinary artist and educator from Ottawa, Canada. With an education in visual arts, graphic design and photography, she’s always looking for a new creative challenge. Valerie has worked at the National Gallery of Canada, sharing her passion for arts in workshops, classes, guided tours, as well as social media content creation.
Recommended materials:
graphite pencil
eraser
watercolor paper pad or journal (Paper of 140lbs or more is recommended but not mandatory).
watercolor palette with primary and secondary colors (yellow, blue, red, green, purple and orange).
1-3 watercolor brush pen
Participants of all skill levels are welcome.
In case of unfavorable weather, the workshop will be held in the indoor program space at our new Garden Gateway.
