Heather Abbott Foundation Marathon Brunch helps those who lose limbs through traumatic circumstances


WHAT: The Heather Abbott Foundation is hosting its annual HAF Boston Marathon Brunch on Sunday, April 15th to raise money in support of its mission to provide customized prostheses to people who have suffered limb loss through traumatic circumstances. The Heather Abbott Foundation Marathon brunch will feature amazing food, live musical entertainment, and a chance to support the members of Team Limb-it-Less, which is running the 2017 Boston to support the Heather Abbott Foundation mission. Attendees will hear inspirational stories from Heather and several amputees who received the gift of life and pain-free movement with help from the Foundation. Several other Boston Marathon bombing survivors will be in attendance to support this event and mission to help amputees.


WHY: Heather Abbott’s life changed forever when injuries she suffered in the Boston Marathon bombings resulted in the amputation of her left leg, below the knee. Heather quickly learned the sad reality facing most amputees. The tremendous costs, lack of health insurance coverage, and the need for various devices to fit specific activities make obtaining customized prostheses nearly impossible for most people. Following the bombings, Heather received an outpouring of support that allowed her to obtain customized prostheses and live her life again. She founded the Heather Abbott Foundation to help other amputees, just as she was helped.
