BGFest XVII will continue the online successes of BGFest XV and XVI (virtual events held in 2020 and 2021) but in 2022 a significant portion of BGFest XVII will be held in person. Two major competitions, one for guitar performance and one for composition, will help build enthusiasm towards an exciting 5 day live- whenever- possible event in Boston. We will continue to use the facilities of the New England Conservatory, but In 2022 all administration of the Festival will shift from NEC to the international and polyglot Eliot Fisk Guitar Academy (“EFGA”) team, most of whom are already experienced veterans of previous Boston GuitarFest events.


The BGFest Young Guitarists’ Workshop (YGW) provides students ages 6 to 15 the opportunity to participate in classes focused on guitar fundamentals including improvisation and composition.


The BGFest Academy program is designed for young guitarists (ages 15-30*) with a serious interest in the classical guitar. It includes private lessons, masterclasses, workshops, technique and performance classes, ensemble opportunities, as well as an optional competition and an opportunity to perform in the participant recital in Jordan Hall at the end of our festival.


The Continuing Education program is designed for guitarists and music lovers age 20 and above. This program is a low-stress, high-information event in a hybrid format. It brings an international group of participants together with eminent guitar teachers and artists from around the world.Individual lessons are combined with classes pinpointing and solving technical problems. A variety of topics are explored during the workshops.
