Join us at the Boston Athenæum's third annual Open House on Saturday, October 22, 2016!
The Open House is a rare opportunity to step beyond the Athenæum's red leather doors and glimpse the library's exclusive members-only areas. The entire building, including the iconic fifth-floor reading room, will be open for self-guided tours. Docents stationed throughout the building will share captivating tidbits and answer visitors' questions about the Athenæum's history, its vast collections, and its landmark home at 10½ Beacon Street.
Guests will encounter treasures of the Athenæum collections including portions of George Washington's personal library; the oldest remaining colonial library in Boston: the King's Chapel Collection; and impressive works of art by John Singer Sargent, Gilbert Stuart, Polly Thayer Starr, and more.
For additional details or to register in advance, please visit https://bbd.bostonathenaeum.org/openhouse. Advance registration is not required, but wait times should be expected for same-day registration. There will be no admission after 3 pm.
*Please note that pre-registration must be done on our website, and not by clicking "Going" or "Interested" on Facebook. Register at https://bbd.bostonathenaeum.org/openhouse.*
