Boro refers to antique Japanese utilitarian textiles that people mended over and again to preserve and reinforce. The repetitive mending created abstract compositions that are now very fashionable on garments. Bring any textile piece that needs some TLC and learn some simple techniques to give your personal item a new life. No experience necessary.
Whether you are looking to
- learn the art of visible mending,
- repair or update your favorite jeans,
- take a break from the news, or
- connect with other creatives,
this will be a fun opportunity to slow down and escape your routine for a few hours while making something with your hands!

Parking available on a first come first serve basis and there's usually ample parking in the evenings and weekends.
The studio is a 5 minute walk from the Maverick Square T stop.
Cost: $65 per person
The cost of the workshop includes:
- Materials: needles, threads, some fabric pieces to use as patches;
- Demo of various mending techniques such as simple sashiko stitch, darning, weaving, patching;
- Drinks and nibbles;
- Inspiration from books, samples, other creatives like you
Workshop fees are not refundable unless the event is cancelled.
