Boomerangs is an award-winning family of thrift stores owned and operated by AIDS Action, New England’s leading provider of HIV prevention and wellness services. The first Boomerangs storefront, on Canal Street, opened in the mid-90s. Boomerangs was started to help provide an outlet for the belongings of those who passed from AIDS-related complications, many of whom had been disowned from their families, while also providing funding for AIDS Action’s research and care for the community.
Serving the Greater Boston area, Boomerangs features a variety of high-quality new, vintage, and gently-loved merchandise to provide critical funding to AIDS Action, in partnership with Fenway Health since 2013.
Together, this partnership serves to enhance the wellbeing of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community through health care, education, research and advocacy. All proceeds from Boomerangs directly helps fund work to prevent new HIV infections and improve the lives of thousands of people already living with HIV/AIDS in Massachusetts.
With locations in Jamaica Plain, Central Square, and Boston’s South End we accept donations from our local supporters and resell them. It’s win-win! Local individuals or corporations get to clear out their clutter, claim it on their taxes and we benefit too!
This operation allows us to raise unrestricted funding, 100% of which goes to supporting AIDS Action’s mission:
