Make Boston’s famous pet-friendly hotel a stop during School Vacation Week for your kids to enjoy a special book reading of “Catie Copley,” the sweet story of Fairmont Copley Plaza’s first Canine Ambassador. Catie started the hotel lobby dog trend 20 years ago when she joined the team in 2004, inspiring a movement in hospitality to provide travelers with the furry companionship they miss from home.
This fun, educational event in our St. James Ballroom includes an appearance from Fairmont Copley Plaza’s Canine Ambassador, Cori Copley, so your children can meet, pet and hug our real-life dog that works in the hotel! She continues the hotel’s legacy of adopting black Labs in need of a new career path—both her and Catie were raised by the Guide Dog Foundation, and our previous Canine Ambassador, Carly, came to us from the Animal Rescue League of Boston.
Hot cocoa and Cori-shaped cookies will be served for an afternoon snack, and every child will be gifted a small Cori stuffed animal and hardcover copy of "Catie Copley” to take home.
Important Notes
- We know many people love Cori and our canine program. This book reading is a family-friendly activity to enjoy during School Vacation Week, meant for kids.
- No dogs allowed (except for Cori, of course!) so we can best cater to our little human guests.
About "Catie Copley"
Reading age: 4–7 years. The adventures of Catie Copley are based on the experiences of the hotel’s very first Canine Ambassador, a black Labrador originally trained as a guide dog. She had a career change and became a member of the guest services team at the storied Fairmont Copley Plaza. This is a sweet read-aloud picture book for dog-loving kids and their parents.
