On his latest album Glacier, Dahlman swings open the curtains that reveal another state of mind, where music is liberated from any stylistic and melodic shackles. –Stacey Zering, No Depression
Eric Dahlman has performed with free jazz icon Hal Russell & his NRG Ensemble, Aardvark Jazz Orchestra, Travis Chandler Philharmonic, Auddity, Rakalam Bob Moses, and has studied with Ingrid Monson, Dave Frank, Anthony Davis & John Luther Adams.
Glacier was recorded in train tunnels, fields, shores, kitchens, and basements. The compositions are far too cerebral to be considered new age despite the primal soundscapes and evolving rhythms. Eric Dahlman’s trumpet playing is the centerpiece along side throat singing, Tibetan bells, flutes, field recordings, electronic loops, and warm reverb beds. Dahlman’s work is the soundtrack for an unwritten film, a testament to music’s power of evocation and life-like dynamism.
“Glacier by visionary composer/trumpeter Eric Dahlman is one of the most unique, colorful, soulful recordings I’ve heard in quite awhile... Dahlman has conjured up a mysterious, mystical masterpiece that is spacious, otherworldly and beautiful.” –Rakalam Bob Moses
