Bluesy Tuesy is a friendly not-for-profit social partner dance, happening weekly in Harvard Square. We're affordable (pay what you can $5-$20, volunteers get in free) and diverse. It's great exercise and a good way to connect with people. No experience or partner needed.
This week begins out of town instructor Jamica Zion's two week Boston residency. She'll be teaching for us, for Blues Union on Thursdays, and holding a workshop day on Saturday March 11.
The lesson is 7:30-8:30 and will be on Ballroomin' style blues with a focus on close embrace. Open dance runs 8:30 until at least 10pm, and the music will be a blues and fusion mix.
Masks are required and also at least one vaccination, though we are probably dropping the vax requirement in the next few weeks.
We're cash only but take IOUs. We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle and a pair of comfortable shoes without too much street grit on them to dance in, we have cups and masks available if needed and dancing in socks is fine, too.
Most weeks we dance mainly blues with a bit of fusion, fourth Tuesdays are "Fusey Tuesy" where we dance fusion with some blues, but Jamica being in town means the lesson this week is blues and the music will be a little more bluesy than usual on a fourth Tuesday. You can see some sample videos of our dance styles on our website; blues and fusion dance are related to swing dance, but done to different music.
