Enjoy 15 miles of easy biking around western Nantucket for a day of off-season adventure. The name "Nantucket" is adapted from similar Algonquian names for the island, perhaps meaning "faraway land or island" or "sandy, sterile soil tempting no one." Despite that questionable last translation, the National Park Service cites Nantucket, designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1966, as being the "finest surviving architectural and environmental example of a late 18th- and early 19th-century New England seaport town."
We'll go to the main part of town, Dionis, Madaket, and Cisco (for the brews, of course). More details will be provided once you are signed up including rentals, stops, and other specifics.
Ferry Reservations
You will have to make ferry reservations separate from Ridj-it. You will not be able to walk on the day of the trip as no spot can be guaranteed. We will be leaving for the 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM from Hyannis and coming back on the 7:05 PM - 8:05 PM. The price is $77 round-trip. Do not delay in reserving these tickets - cancellations for Hy-Line tickets can be made up to 5:00 PM the previous day before the adventure. Please note Ridj-it has a different cancellation policy for carpool, rentals, etc.
Expectations
This will be an easy bike ride as there will be breaks in-between for sight-seeing, eating, relaxing, pictures, etc. You should know how to ride a bike and be a team player. Remember - you're sharing an adventure with others!
