Join us for an illuminating discussion following the screening of The Seed of the Sacred Fig, a bold and critically acclaimed political thriller that masterfully intertwines a compelling fictional narrative with real footage of Iranian protests. Directed by the renowned Mohammad Rasoulof, who risked his safety to bring this story to life, the film offers a profound exploration of personal and political resistance under authoritarian rule.
The post-film panel will feature the following distinguished speakers:

After receiving his Ph.D. from Yale University in 1968, he taught at Yale and the University of Southern California before joining the faculty of Boston College in 1971. Since then, he has held visiting appointments at the University of Tehran, Princeton, Harvard, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Oxford, and M.I.T. He served as the founding editor of the journal of Iranian Studies, from 1968 to 1982.
Homa Sarabi is a filmmaker, educator, and programmer, whose work delves into the intersections of collective memory, and personal history while centering community engagement.
