Bees, ants, wasps… What do these insects have in common? More than you might think! They all belong to the same taxonomic group (Hymenoptera), and they all play key roles in ecosystems around the globe. In this program we'll discuss the importance of these fascinating creatures and learn the basics of their biology. Then, we'll put our knowledge to the test as we explore the grounds of BNC in search of our local Hymenopteran species!
This program is both indoor and outdoor.
Led by native bee enthusiast, Kalimah Mustafa-Widberg (she/they). Kalimah has been sharing their love of bees by educating the public since 2014 when a bee research project sparked a passion that has lasted nearly a decade! While she truly loves all insects, she is especially interested in the foraging and nesting preferences of the at-risk bees native to Northeastern United States.
This program is free for Dot Rx Members. Please email [email protected] to register.
Registration is required. Register here: Bees, Ants, and other Wasps (massaudubon.org)
