From 1-5pm on . July 23rd, A Trike Called Funk is bringing a trifecta of Brazilian music, MC’ing, and live painting to New Riverside Park (880 Memorial Drive) as part of the Cambridge Plays summer series.
For “Batucada na Rua”--a Brazilian Portuguese language phrase that roughly translates to “Beats in the Street”--special guest DJs Jonathan “SumJ” Summey and Sean Marquand will be spinning all-vinyl sets of Brazilian music on A Trike Called Funk’s mobile sound system.
Between the DJ sets, there will be a special live performance by the Bronx-based Brazilian MC Jon “Phes” Souza who raps in a mix of English and Brazilian Portuguese. “Phes,” who is also a graffiti artist, will spend the time before his MC set live painting an aerosol work of art on A Trike Called Funk's free-standing frame which also comes with a portable dance floor for all of you to catch a groove.
In addition, Brazilian percussionist Marcus Santos will bring his drums to add another layer beats to make you move your feet. See you this SunDay FunDay afternoon for A Trike Called Funk’s “Batucada na Rua!”
