La Donna Musicale and Rumbarroco open its 2023–24 Season in November with Dancing Bridges.
Tickets are now available for the season’s opening performance. With their talent for fusion and improvisation, the exceptional vocal and instrumental musicians of Rumbarroco will connect Spanish music of the past with African, Indigenous genres that survive in contemporary popular and folk music in Latin America.
The Program:
The repertoire includes music by Early Music composers: Recercadas by Ortiz, Jácaras by Cascante and Santa Cruz, as well as anonymous Romances, whose captivating stories call the audience to experience moments of introspection and reflection. Then we create dancing bridges to Latin American popular and traditional music such as Dominican Merengues, Venezuelan Joropo, and Mexican Son, notably in La Lloroncita and Fandanguito.
Join us for this unique afternoon of vibrant dances and virtuosic performances as Rumbarroco swings and grooves through a musical odyssey that transcends time and borders.
“Rumbarroco bridges early music and Latin rhythms delightfully.” South Florida Classical Review
Performers:
Adriana Ruiz, soprano; Daniela Tosic, mezzo-soprano; Fausto Miro, tenor; Julia Connor, violin; Eduardo Betancourt, harp & percussion; Katherine Shao, keyboards; Laury Gutiérrez, viola da gamba & Venezuelan cuatro; Juan Sebastian Sanchez, percussion.
