Banned in Boston, the annual comedy and music revue, is Urban Improv’s signature fundraising event. For one-night-only, local Boston celebrities, media personalities, politicians, and business, arts and community leaders rally together to put on a show of hilarity, musical satire and skits.
This year, a selection of Boston’s most notable are performing including Governor Charlie Baker, Aerosmith’s Tom Hamilton, NESN’s Jenny Johnson, comedian, Jimmy Tingle, Boston Chief of Economic Development, John Barros, MA Attorney General, Maura Healey, Draft Kings CEO, Jason Robin, Wayfair Co-Founder, Steven Conine, State Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz, Attorney General Maura Healey, Congressman Jim McGovern, Red Sox Chairman Sam Kennedy and more.
The show supports Rehearsal for Life’s Urban Improv program in empowering Boston’s youth using theater as a vehicle for social change. Since 1992, the interactive program has engaged over 75,000 young people at more than 125 schools and community groups. Urban Improv’s structured improvisational theater workshops are designed to strengthen social and emotional (SEL) skills and help students deal creatively with real-life challenges through dialogue and performance.
