*Due to inclement weather, tonight’s 6 – 7 PM Concerts in the Courtyard Series performance with Bahar Badieitabar of Berklee College of Music has been moved inside to the Rabb Lecture Hall on the Lower Level of the Boylston Street Building of the Central Library in Copley Square. Please ask a BPL staff member for directions if you need them.*
Bahar Badieitabar is an Iranian third-semester student majoring in performance and composition at Berklee College of Music. Her principal instrument is the oud, an Iranian classical instrument. At the age of 12, she began her musical studies at Tehran Music School, where she received her music diploma in 2017. Her training in classical oud performance took place under the tutelage of esteemed musicians in the Middle East such as Simon Shaheen, Siavash Roshan, Yurdal Tokcan, and Dariush Talai. In addition to developing her musicianship, these influential instructors have greatly inspired her in forming her own style of music, which fuses Iranian classical music with contemporary techniques. Badieitabar won first place at the Youth National Music Festival for two consecutive years at the ages of 16 and 17. From 2013 to 2019, she performed at Iran’s prestigious Fajr International Music Festival alongside reputable orchestras such as the Tehran University Orchestra and Tehran Music Orchestra. In 2019, she was accepted to Berklee College of Music under the Presidential Scholarship, which awards entering musicians who demonstrate the highest musical merit.
Registration is not required but the limited amount of seating is first come, first served. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to the Rabb Lecture Hall.
Boston Public Library's Wednesday evening concerts are presented in partnership with Berklee College of Music, and all concerts in the series are sponsored by Bank of America.
