Come back to school as we look at the films made by and about the Wayside Inn schools. The Wayside Inn campus once included the Wayside Inn Boys School, the Southwest School, and the Redstone School—supposedly the site where Mary brought her Little Lamb. The students and teachers of these schools were the subjects of several films made in the 1930s. During this decade home-movie making exploded, so it is no surprise to see cameras capture both the special events and everyday activities of these three Wayside schools. Join Northeastern University professor, Dr. Michael McCluskey, as he shows excerpts from these films and explains how they demonstrate the innovations of the Wayside educational system and how film-making became an innovative form of education itself.
