It’s just a bunch of Hocus Pocus! As the leaves begin to turn and trick or treaters start itching for a picture with Frankenstein, Salem, Massachusetts is the place to be. But do you know the haunting truth of this quaint North Shore town? Salem’s history is much darker and not as lighthearted as Kathy Najimy flying through the air on a vacuum in the much-loved film Hocus Pocus.
Join us as we travel back to the time of the Puritans in 1692 and learn about the historic Salem Witch Trials. Dr. Emerson W. Baker, professor of history at Salem State University, talks about more than 150 innocent people of Salem who were accused of practicing witchcraft and the 25 of them who died as a result of these wrongful charges. What caused this “Witch Hunt” and what affect has it had on Salem today? Dr. Baker takes your questions.
