We’ve invited our friends, Asali, to host a pop up market on our patio!
The Asali Market will feature handmade items and wares from Tanzania, hand selected to highlight the culture, craftmenship and community Asali serves!
"You can feel pretty sweet knowing 100% of the proceeds from these items go directly to our partners as they better the lives of children in their communities!” - The Asali Bees
Asali’s Backstory:
The Asali Project was started by six north shore natives with a passion for international development and childhood education and support. Asali provides grassroots organizations and local communities the resources they need to succeed and thrive within their unique communities. Although Asali is based in Salem, MA, our partners program, Simba’s Footprints Foundation is a community center focusing on children and women’s development in Moshi, Tanzania. So far, Asali has created a thriving music studio, teacher education, the only English language library in the area and an afterschool English Club as well as funded health insurance for the most at risk in the community. Recently, Asali has funded income generating projects such as raising chickens, creating a sowing shop and organizing tourism trips.
In Swahili, the national language of Tanzania, "asali" means honey. Like honey, a happy childhood is the sweet stuff that supports a healthy community. Let’s make some honey!
