ArtSpace Creative Connections Series
Doors 10:00am | Crafts 10:30am
Join ArtSpace and Sanctuary for unique art experiences each month. We’ll explore community art-making, unusual materials, sensory art and we’ll have lots of fun. For ages 2-7 and their grownups. Wear clothes that can get messy and plan on a good time!
Saturday, February, 8:
The BIG Draw
This communal drawing project will encourage working BIG. We will put big paper down on the floor and add some cardboard boxes so that children and grownups can draw as big as they can imagine. For this program, scale is our exciting inspiration. We’ll see how far and how tall we can draw!
Saturday, March 8:
If You Build It
How high can you build? How far can you build? What patterns can you make? How can you use different materials? This month, children will visit a series of stations with different building projects. This is a sculpture building opportunity for sensory learning and budding architects alike.
Saturday, April 12:
Community Weaving
Children will have the opportunity to learn to weave on cardboard looms, or to contribute to a large-scale community weaving project. We’ll use unexpected materials to create amazing colorful fiber art! A great opportunity to make art with your children, for fine motor skills, and for wild and wacky creations.
Saturday, May 10:
Clay and Flowers
This week, we’ll take inspiration from natural materials and work in 3D. Children will have the opportunity to make shapes with air dry clay, before stamping them to capture the textures and patterns of natural materials like flowers, leaves and pine cones. Added embellishments will allow for more creativity and personalization. Those who finish quickly can visit our table to make colorful leaf rubbings.
Saturday, June 14:
Pride Collages:
Celebrate Pride this week! We are making colorful, rainbow inspired collages with all kinds of materials - from tissue paper to pompoms! We’ll have options to make ornaments, wreaths or anything that you can imagine! Together with allies, we are excited to recognize and celebrate the LGBTQIA community in this colorful and creative art making.
