Artists For Humanity will kick-off their 2024 Open Studio series with the exhibition Kept it Movin'—featuring Boston-born and raised Jeremy 'Sobek' Harrison. An AFH Alum, Sobek calls Dorchester his home and credits Mattapan Square for lighting his spark for everything Hip Hop and Graffiti.
Sobek is known for merging illustrations and Graffiti into large-scale, public art murals of aerosol abstract realism. For this exhibition, he will display his perfecting use of the aerosol can on a small canvas, which he so poetically proclaims...
"It's not the can, it's the hands."
We're so excited to host Sobek's studio-based artwork. The exhibit will show his 'Come Close' series zooming in on intricate sections of his mural work and his 'Lilly Ladybug' series in praise of his powerful mother. His 'Sobek Typography' series, layering in his love of the traditional 80's aerosol can and in particular—the nozzle, will also be on display. And so much more!
It's going to be an inspiring evening of art, conversation and community. Tours of our creative studios will share our mission, our commissioned projects, and the creative work by our teen artists and designers.
